Support The Troops Over Sea's With Letters, Cards, and Care Packages showing our Thanks!
This is a ongoing ministry starting up at Cedar Hill Lutheran.
Please return your cards and Letters to be sent to our troops overseas in the box marked "Cards for the Military" in the narthex.
There are some guidelines for the cards and letters: Do not include anything that would cause grief of uneasiness to the military reader, No political nature. Cards can be homemade or store bought, Any size cards are accepted. You can put a photo inside the cards,You can also include your name, address, and email address.
We will be putting together with the cards and letters, care packages an any donations are welcome Will have a list on the box in the narthex and the website. These packages will be mailed throughout the entire year to the men and women overseas.
For the soilder care packages, suggestions for what to send:
Anything that does NOT melt!! Remember, they are living with 1130 days and no A/C or refrigerators...
Good quality dehydrated foods (believe it or not)
Canned foods that are easy to eat. (Like tuna, chicken)
Beef Jerky
Packaged fruits (like those snack cups)(throw in a plastic spoon...)
Powdered drinks mixes (like pre-sweetened Kool-Aid, Gatorade, etc)
Do NOT send any liquid, unless it is sealed (like in a vacuum bag)
Towelettes (the anti-bacterial pre-moistened types)(ALOT of these!!)
Simple things...combs, AA-batteries, paper, pens, envelopes
DEET insect spray
Sports items (baseballs, old gloves, frisbees...)
Crew Socks
(Idea: ask your kids to ask around to collect games they don't want anymore...)
Reading stuff, car magazines, comic books, standard soldier-reading material...
Many more ideas, better ones you probably have.Still too expensive for your budget? A Letter, from you, your children, or the kids at school, is THE best thing in the world to get when home is so far away.
